It's been week now since you slipped on a moose shit and fell head down in a hiidenkirnu. You fell six days and six nights. Seventh day you laid unconscious. After regaining consciounes, you noticed you have entered world where regularity comes to get abortions. Here water flows upstream and multiple types of luminiferous aether fills air. There is no magic words or dance steps to get out of this madness, so you head towards what locals call "Suruvuori" in hopes of getting back to home.

What is Included in this early prototype
-Doomish gameplay-
-Two weapons with 2D-hit scan logic-
-Three basic Doom style enemies, complete with infighting and pain states-
-Basic health and armour system-
-Short and gentle 1994-style map-
-Three or so clashing art styles to fight trough-
-Stop motion animations-
Surinapiri is not supposed to stay as generic retro shooter, it is going to take much more interesting turn design-wise.
We are going to mix Doom style base with elements from our favourite run n' gun games. Enemies moving in clear patterns, superior firepower, room emptying powerups! Multiple art styles, all made by hand on real paper. Revolutionary anti-immersion design!
Fight through hordes of all kind of weirdos, some from old folk tales, some straight out from Finnish forest and some from our imagination. Bears with felt boots, cows shooting milk from their udders, trolls with chainsaws, stupid satans, familiars of your evil neighbors with laser sight buttholes, personifications of forces of nature. These are not going to be your average human like opponents with ability to work in teams, differing personalities, emotional responses and other charisma killers. They are completely brain dead and in means of retro arcade gameplay that is amazing. Never before there been such marriage of first person shooter and arcade run 'n' gun enemies.
Our weapons are meant to be overpowered. You will be able to empty room with starter weapon and from there firepower just gets higher. Game is going to get balanced by challenge coming from huge amount of enemies with completely different behaviors and movement patterns.
With few basic weapons there is going to be some never before seen weapons with equal amounts of overpower. How reverse projectile sounds like? You would be able to spawn huge crushing boulder from back of the room, that could kill even enemies hiding behind objects, but you have to get away from the way of it too. Or how about weapon that is so powerful it sends your enemies flying through back door of hell and at the process rips hole in the universe that other enemies could fall too.
Surinapiri has multiple symbolistic and synthetist art styles with set of unique enemies and level toys for each, first occurring as separate, but as game goes on, they start to bleed into each other and break rules.
Surinapiri - Surupiri is collaboration project of two former students of Riveria Outokumpu, school for game developers at the shore of Fishless pond.

nice weird
